In anticipation of those numbers, the board capitalized on a once-in-a-lifetime land deal with the descendants of the Hargrave family for 131 acres of land located on the backside of the stadium. The land will host the new high school.“The reason we did that is it’s a once in a lifetime shot to get that size property where we need it. It will save the taxpayers a lot of money since we don’t have to rebuild a stadium or the playing surfaces, they’re already there.
“A 2018 Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas study noted that Texas has the highest retention rate of any state, with 82 percent of people born in Texas still living in the state. That means about 3,800 more people move into Texas than leave — every single week,” according to the article by the San Antonio Business Journal.
The second component is a reimbursement to the district for the expenditure of the $3.9 million on the Holcombe property.
