Hugh Jackman's warning about his life-threatening illness battle ahead of sunny weekend
Australian film star Hugh Jackman has issued a vital warning after going through multiple rounds of treatment for a life-threatening illness.
With the sun starting to peek out this weekend here in Greater Manchester, it is more important than ever to recognise the signs of skin cancer - and know how to keep safe in the spring weather. The Hollywood star has been treated several times for a form of skin cancer called basal cell carcinoma and has taken his fans along on his journey getting treated over the years.
"Just to remind you, basal cell in the world of skin cancers is the least dangerous of them all," he continued. "However, if I can just take this opportunity to remind you, summer is coming. Symptoms of non-melanoma cancer The first sign of non-melanoma skin cancer is usually the appearance of a lump or discoloured patch on the skin that persists after a few weeks and slowly progresses over months or sometimes years. This is the cancer, or tumour, the health NHS explains.
