The remains of a human foot were found inside a shoe that washed up on a Richmond beach Saturday.
RICHMOND — Remains of an apparent human foot were found inside an athletic shoe Saturday on the beach at Point San Pablo, and police are trying to determine if it belongs to a person who died by suicide or someone else, authorities said Monday.
It was found inside a blue Saucony running shoe about 2:45 p.m. Saturday by a person visiting the beach. The shoe was in good condition, authorities said. Pomeroy said it is not uncommon for human body parts, typically a foot or fingers, to wash up on the shoreline due to the direction of the tide. He said it was difficult to say exactly how long the foot had been in the water, but estimated at least a few months.
