Scotland's health secretary also confirms strike contingency talks have been held with the Army.

The health secretary confirmed he would consider redistributing the money set aside for NHS staff and admitted the demands of trade unions were "not unreasonable"."We will be getting back round the table, not just with the RCN, but with the other health trade unions."We can look at the redistribution of that £480m but the UK government have got a moral obligation to give us more money.

The union said urgent meetings were being sought with management to ensure appropriate staffing levels for critical care.
