The tail end of Hurricane Ernesto could possibly hit Ireland next week but it's too early to tell, as Met Eireann predicts lots of dry weather over the coming days
Tropical storm Ernesto is currently headed towards Bermuda in the Atlantic Ocean and is expected to upgrade to Category 2 hurricane status as it tails around the Caribbean.
He posted on X: "The next hurricane this season is Ernesto and it could travel towards the Caribbean before the remnants of it potentially catch a ride on the Jet stream early next week." "After this it may well be picked up by the Jet Stream and pushed towards Ireland. For now it is way too long to say the outcome but the possibility is there for this system to bring wind and rain to Ireland."
"Outbreaks of rain affecting western and northern areas this evening will extend southeastwards over Ireland overnight, turning heavy in places. Lowest temperatures of 13 to 16 degrees in a fresh southwest breeze."
