Rolls-Royce's 'hybrid-ready power packs', introduced on 41 new Irish railcars, have caused reliability issues. Breakdown and maintenance problems, alongside software glitches, led to significant delays. During the first four weeks of 2023, 2,413 minutes were lost due to fleet issues. By October 1st, this figure surged to 10,039 minutes, nearly tripling the initial loss. By October, the lost minutes decreased to 9,212.
