I created Elf on the Shelf to cheer up mum – I maxed out my credit card to launch it
Chanda explained: "My husband and I maxed out credit cards, my sister sold her house and my parents even tapped into their retirement savings so that we could invest everything we had into starting our company."
What's more, Chanda estimates they have sold over 13 MILLION Scout elves since the book was released in the noughties.
