I’m not a stranger to travelling abroad, but on a recent holiday I was given a warning while flying out of Dublin Airport .While I had noticed the small space for my signature, I didn’t realise it was necessary for it to be signed before I got on a plane.I’ve had the same passport for nearly four years and all that time I hadn’t written down my signature.
However, after my experience at Dublin Airport, I was told by several other people that they had also been asked recently to make sure their Irish passport was properly signed too before departing. While it has been around for just over a decade, current Irish passports for citizens aged 18 and over are valid for 10 years.
However, the most up-to-date addition features a small gap on page three. It can be found near the lining of the book.
