Now it all makes sense
Curly hair has experienced a bit of a renaissance in the last couple of years. Gone are the days of frying our hair pin-straight with hair straighteners - people are embracing their natural curls and moving away from using heated tools to style their waves.
Thankfully due to the internet, I learned so much about my hair. I now understand that to activate my curls, I need to use a curling cream or mousse on soaking wet hair.However, there is always more to learn, so I asked Glen Cullen, owner of Industry hair salon in Edenderry, Co Offaly, his advice on caring for curly hair.
“Curly hair needs more attention than other hair types. Many things will play a factor. Your hair’s texture, the condition of your hair, if your hair is coloured, the use heated tools - these all will affect curly hair and what products work.” He adds that curly hair needs to be washed less than straight hair, as over washing can strip the hair of its natural oils. “Many people prefer using a cowash, which is a gentler form of shampoo, it’s not as heavy.”
