As we celebrate the legacy and life of trailblazer Madeleine Albright, I wanted to share some of her most wise and powerful quotes from my past interview with her where she shared personal insights on advancing women’s leadership, her outlook on her life and work, her hopes for the future and more.

“My driving force is that I want to make a difference.”

Albright remained very active in her later years, projecting her important voice into world affairs, chairing the international strategic consulting firm “My driving force is that I want to make a difference,” she said. “It took me quite a long time to develop a voice, and now that I have it, I am not going to be silent. I feel that I have been so blessed that it is incumbent upon me to really get in there and help to make a difference for other people.”

At the time of our interview, I asked her how she felt about getting older and what type of unique wisdom she thought our elders have to offer. She had this to say: “Well, I don't like getting older. I have to tell you that []. But I think that what I have loved in my life are the intergenerational activities.
