A STUNNED man who was visiting family in Greenock has hit out after being falsely accused of shoplifting from a local supermarket.
When he walked out of the store, alarms were set off and the 57-year-old says he was immediately followed out by a member of staff who accused him of shoplifting.The railway worker says he was left feeling 'embarrassed and annoyed' by the situation. "It was so embarrassing - the shop was busy and people were all looking at me even though I hadn't done a thing wrong."I'll never shop in there again."Mr Gillan had discarded his receipt, but was fortunately able to retrieve it to prove his innocence.He said:"My mum is in her eighties and something like that happening to her would be deeply upsetting.
