hormone replacement therapy privately after her GP gave her “incorrect advice” that the type of hormones she was on would increase her risk of breast cancer. As Ms Austin has had a hysterectomy, she was prescribed oestrogen-only HRT, as opposed to combined HRT, which involved taking oestrogen and progesterone.
Ms Austin has now increased her HRT prescription and started taking testosterone after visiting the private clinic. “I would have paid £5,000. I would have found the money because I feel like a different person,” she said.
