The pub absolutely smashed it out of the park during our reporter's visit
When I think of small villages I think of a small population, plenty of sheep, and lots of fields. I don't think of them having eateries that win awards like the Northamptonshire title for the National Pub & Bar Awards.
I decided to bring my mum with me for lunch, but we did book in advance as we weren't entirely sure how busy it would be on a mid-week lunchtime. When we arrived we got to have a peek at the beer garden and outdoor bar, both filled with quirky decor that gave this rustic-looking pub a really modern feel. When we got inside we were greeted by very friendly staff who showed us to the dining area.
The Bellino had 0% Warners Pink Gin, Berries and 'Nosecco'. It came out in a very sophisticated-looking glass and had all the aesthetics of a real cocktail, just no alcohol. There was a great blend between the pork and the duck, and the sweetness of the hoisin and slight spice to the pulled pork really worked together to create a very flavourful dish. The meat was cooked perfectly, as was the flatbread, and for a dish that seemed to have quite varied ingredients all put together, it really worked.
The presentation of the dish was exceptional too and I could tell that the chefs go above and beyond in not only cooking, but preparing too. My anticipation of what a 'sexy bap' is was soon satisfied when the mains were brought out.
