I tried the Leeds café serving mouth-watering Yorkshire Pudding burgers
Wapentake on Kirkgate in Leeds city centre offers exactly that. The cosy café bar advertises its Chef's signature as 'not for the faint hearted'.
I chose beef over chicken for my burger on advice I was given. I took a seat by the large windows upstairs, and the meal was with me within 10 or 15 minutes. The Yorkshire Puddings were, as hoped, light and fluffy on the inside, with a nice crispy outside - and worked very nicely in place of bread. With the gravy, the cheese melted nicely into the bacon and beef burger, providing a hearty and comforting burger that felt like eating Sunday lunch.
