I walked around my home town of Preston head to toe in Greggs and regret everything
When I first saw Primark drop a collaboration with the North's favourite bakery, Greggs, I thought it was funny. I thought it was funny in the way that makes you say to your Greggs-loving mates, 'you should wear that'. That's before nobody actually wears it.
I've never seen anyone wear the gear in public and if people can't wear it on the regular, what's the point? What's everyone so afraid of? I want to start with focusing on what it is actually like to wear the outfit. The fit looks like it would be comfortable overall but it produces sweat like a P.E. class bleep test. Dreams of relaxing on the sofa in your Greggs gym kit are long gone, I was hot just sat at my desk.
I needed to test it out on Fishergate but to begin with I wasn't brave enough. On my first outing I chickened out and threw a shirt over my vest. With only the shorts on show, I was pretty confident walking round. I don't really think anyone noticed and the little Greggs logo was so discreet, when I got into the office, nobody really noticed.
Here, the outfit gathered a couple of laughs from people walking past as I tried to serve 'attitude' in what is not a very charming fit. It had me appreciate Lady Gaga's ability to pull off the controversial 2010 meat dress.
