Reporter Laycie Beck queued for rides she wasn't sure would work, watched people get stuck on a new ride and had to clean up someone else's vomit

After weeks of hearing about the new Gold Rush ride at Drayton Manor I was eager to head on down to the theme park and give it a try. I was pleasantly surprised about how quick we got into the car park of the theme park in Tamworth, and after five minutes of queuing we were in the park for spot on 10.30am.

We decided to wait and luckily it was only another 20 minutes or so when the ride was up and running again, and the people in front of us got back on and zoomed away. We were a bit nervous about going on after the technical issues but the rollercoaster was amazing and we would have gone on it again if the queue hadn't increased to 90 minutes.

So instead we went on the Accelerator rollercoaster and after 50 minutes queuing in various hot rooms we made it onto the ride, which was amazing but only lasted what seemed a minute. Plus, the second half of it is just doing the first half again backwards, so in a way it felt like half a ride. Because they are a pull-down-over-the-head style, you can't see the front of it until you pull the harness down, and so I ended up with someone else's vomit on my arm, which then made me want to throw up as a result. I shouted over to the staff member asking for a cloth or towel or just something, but before he even had the chance we all got told to exit ride due to technical issues, again.

We spent 30 minutes queuing and as we got to the front of the line we were excited to be next. The people in front of us got on, spun up and down the track, and then tried to get off, but couldn't. They had to wait on the ride for around five minutes until the chair backs came down and then it was announced that the ride was having technical issues, what a surprise...
