The cast of iconic Australian series Prisoner is set to reunite for a huge event to celebrate the 45th anniversary of the first episode, following the revival of Neighbours
The iconic 80s TV series, Prisoner, is set to have a reunion to celebrate its 45th anniversary. The show first aired in 1979 and was the first Australian series to feature a mostly female cast.
Prisoner was set in a fictional correctional facility called Wentworth and followed the lives of women in prison. Some of the main cast included Elspeth Ballantyne, Sheila Flroance, Val Lehman, Gerard Maguire and Neighbours star Colette Mann.Rowena said: "People enjoyed the character.... They ask some wonderful questions, some wacky ones some that I can't answer because I can't remember. And I have to explain that I'm getting old! But I love it. It's great.
The soap, which has followed the lives of those living and working in the fictional Melbourne suburb of Erinsborough since 1985, was dropped by Channel 5 after failing to secure new funding.The return was announced with a social media clip featuring some familiar faces from the soap, plus The OC’s Mischa Barton has also joined the soap.
