Roberto Cavalli has died at age 83 Designer Roberto Cavalli has died at age 83. The fashion icon passed away on April 12, 2024 in Florence, Italy where he lived. Italian news agency ANSA reported that Cavalli had been suffering from a long illness. Swedish model Sandra Nilsson, who is 45 years his junior, has been with Cavalli since 2014 and the pair had a baby last year. Cavalli is the father of six children in total.
Cavalli’s grandfather, Giuseppe Rossi, was an artist and a leading figure of the Macchiaioli movement. Cavalli originally planned to follow in his grandfather’s footsteps, studying at the Art Institute of Florence before deciding to pursue a career in fashion.
