One of the Northern Quarter's most iconic coffee and tea shops has announced it will close this week - leaving devoted customers in shock. North Tea Power is described as "one of the OGs of the NQ" - but has announced that after 13 years it will close for good on Sunday.
Friends and fans have flooded their Instagram post with support after the announcement. The Northern Quarter venue has won plenty of acclaim over the years, including Manchester Food and Drink Festival awards, and a mention in the New York Times as one of the best places for coffee in Manchester.
Art director and Manchester entrepreneur Ste Wing summed up the mood of customers, writing in response to the post: "DEVO'd!! You guys started the coffee movement in my city and will forever be remembered for that. Danny Kelly added: "One of the OGs of the NQ. They even gave birth to Rudys Pizza in a way on Thursday nights. Thanks for the memories guys."
