IMAGE Autumn 2026: Editor Lauren Heskin Bids Farewell as Irish Design Takes Center Stage

Magazine & Lifestyle News

IMAGE magazine's Autumn 2026 issue lands on shelves Saturday, August 29, marking Lauren Heskin's final edition as editor before handing the reins to Megan Burns. The issue spotlights Irish fashion design, including Jonathan Anderson's upcoming Dior show at Trinity College Dublin, emerging Irish talent showing at Dublin Independent Fashion Week, and seasonal trends from pleats to bold pinks and reds. Niamh Ennis's career column frames September as the real new year, while Melanie Mullan joins the team as deputy editor.

IMAGE Autumn 2026 hits shelves Saturday, August 29, and editor Lauren Heskin is here to highlight the best of what’s inside the new issue. September is the real new year, says Niamh Ennis in her career advice column in this issue, and I couldn’t agree more.

Jobs that got put off during our blessedly warm summer are now back on the table, school uniforms are being laundered, and it feels like a momentary reset before the end of the year comes hurtling toward us. Changes are afoot here too as we welcome Melanie Mullan, a longtime IMAGE contributor, to the team as deputy editor.

This issue is a particularly poignant one for me personally as it is my last in the editor’s chair, though I won’t be going too far. I am so grateful to leave things in the supremely accomplished hands of Megan Burns, who has been a sounding board, a friend and my magazine other half on this journey for so many years. With the announcements out of the way, let’s talk about the issue!

The imminent arrival of Jonathan Anderson’s Dior to the cobbled paths of Trinity College Dublin in December has put Irish design at the forefront of the global fashion calendar, although Irish designers and suppliers have long been part of the fabric of the major houses. This issue, Ruth O’Connor caught up with some of the newest homegrown talent who will be showing their collections at the upcoming Dublin Independent Fashion Week, and you’ll find both established and emerging designers at the forefront of our Connemara fashion shoot too.

Suzie Coen is still dreaming of a leather jacket she lost in a nightclub in the late nineties, proving the longevity of the statement piece. And Megan Burns rounds up the most textural trends of the season, from rustling pleats and soft finishes to lip-smacking swatches of pink and red.

As part of our third celebratory 50th birthday issue, we take a look at our third decade, the middle of the 1990s where the fashion features feel surprisingly current and divorce was the central topic of the era. Meanwhile, Leonie Corcoran sits down with a handful of the members of the IMAGE Business Club as the community celebrates its fifth birthday; Dominique McMullan looks at how a shift in ambition amongst women is changing the working world for the better; and Céire Sadlier pens a plea for a little space.

In the Self pages, Melanie Morris wants to know how to keep that sleek and silky salon finish in between cuts; Holly O’Neill is on the base, blush and lip products to nail that natural-yet-polished look; and Lizzie Gore-Grimes explores why the temptation to try GLP-1s is so powerful, and whether these drugs are really the answer. The whole team became enamoured with Louise Smyth’s beautiful Wicklow farmhouse, a collection of Quaker buildings that have been transformed into a snug home and yoga retreat space, and Lizzie was equally enthralled by the many guises of Château La Coste, where vineyards merge with large-scale art installations and Michelin-quality dining experiences.
