An Garda Síochána thwarted an attack described as an “imminent threat to life” in Dublin earlier this week. A tactical team intercepted a vehicle in Clondalkin, leading to the arrest of two men and the discovery of a semi-automatic Glock pistol and 9mm ammunition. Follow-up searches at 18 locations in Dublin and two cells in Portlaoise Prison involved over 300 Gardaí.
An attack described as an ‘imminent threat to life ’ was prevented by Gardaí in Dublin earlier this week.
Two men, aged in their 30s and 40s, were arrested as a result, while a semi-automatic Glock pistol and a number of rounds of 9mm ammunition were discovered following a search of the vehicle. The pistol and ammunition will be forwarded to the Ballistics section of the Garda Technical Bureau to undergo analysis.
Speaking following the operation, Assistant Commissioner Angela Willis, head of Organised & Serious Crime said: "The intervention by members of An Garda Síochána in West Dublin on the evening of 17th December 2024 has again resulted in the removal of a lethal firearm and ammunition from circulation.
