This writer's love story could easily be out of a rom-com.
All the way through my late teens and my early twenties, friends would tell me I was ridiculous—living in love stories that were simply happening in my head. And, looking back now, they weren’t wrong: There were vile one-night stands I would turn into a Romeo-and-Juliet-style petal-picking fest. There were meetings I turned into repressed romances caught between gazes, subtexts, fear.
As I wept on the E Train at all that I’d lost, someone across the way stood up, put their hand on my shoulder and passed me a note which read “it’s a bad day, not a bad life…hope you find your smile.”I eventually moved back to London.We fell apart, for a while, and that’s when I started writing my movie again. Obsessing over the could have been, wishing I was anywhere but New York.I eventually moved back to London with one suitcase, and into a warehouse with him.
I got a text from my friend: “You’d better get back here and tell him how you feel because otherwise it’ll be too late.” There he was. About to greet this man with the abs. But I told him I needed to speak to him. To tell him something I’d never ever been able to tell him before.
