TRAFFIC UPDATE: All SB lanes of the 405 Freeway in the Sepulveda Pass remain closed due to an incident involving a CHP officer.
An incident involving a California Highway Patrol officer shut down both sides of the 405 freeway in the Sepulveda Pass early Thursday morning.
The situation unfolded sometime before 3:15 a.m. on the 405 freeway near Skirball Center Drive in the Brentwood area. Footage from the scene showed a red sedan stopped on the shoulder. A suspect was examined by paramedics alongside the car before being taken to a hospital with undisclosed injuries. The CHP officer was not hurt.
CHP would not immediately provide details on the circumstances of the incident, or whether a shooting was involved. The 405 freeway was initially shut down in both directions. The northbound lanes have since reopened, but the southbound lanes were still closed as of 6:30 a.m., with traffic backed up for miles.
