In the wake of recent elections, a group of Independent TDs is positioning itself to offer support to Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael for the formation of a new government in Ireland. Kevin ‘Boxer’ Moran, Michael Lowry, Seán Canney, Noel Grealish, Verona Murphy, and Barry Heneghan are among those who may play a key role in negotiations.
Kevin ‘Boxer’ Moran returns as an Independent TD after winning a seat in Longford-Westmeath. The last Dáil had the Regional Independent Group which consisted of eight members. Efforts are under way to form a similar group for the new Dáil. Michael Lowry, Seán Canney, Noel Grealish, and Verona Murphy have expressed openness to talks about supporting a new government with conditions.
Barry Heneghan, a newly elected TD from Dublin Bay North, is also an ally of the Independent Alliance and is open to discussions about a potential deal with the incoming government
