An Indiana Jones 5 image reveals the first official look at Phoebe Waller-Bridge's character, Helena. For the first time since 2008's Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, Harrison Ford is returning as the iconic bullwhip-wielding archeologist for a currently untitled fifth Indiana Jones movie.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY Now, Empire has revealed the first official look at Waller-Bridge's Helena in Indiana Jones 5. Some additional details were also shared about the character, as Waller-Bridge described Helena as an enigma, while Mangold painted her as more of a femme fatale figure.
Now, some more details have emerged about Indiana Jones 5, which is set in 1969 during the height of the Space Race and will find Ford's titular character weeding out Nazi sympathizers in the space programs. However, much about Waller-Bridge's character remains under wraps other than her name, relation to Indy, and that she will play a pivotal role in the story. This includes participating in the massive action set pieces the swashbuckling franchise does best.
Waller-Bridge is adept at playing supporting comic relief characters, so that will likely be a major part of how Helena is utilized in Indiana Jones 5. Mangold used Barbara Stanwyck's role in the 1941 screwball comedy The Lady Eve as a key reference point for Helena. However, considering how Helena has also been described as "a mystery and wonder," some unexpected twists are likely in store for Indy's goddaughter.
