The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has refuted claims by Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde that the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) for Ondo State, Toyin Babalola, is from the state. Makinde had called for Babalola's removal during the PDP campaign launch, alleging bias due to her supposed indigene status.
The Independent National Electoral Commission has denied allegations by Seyi Makinde, governor of Oyo, that Toyin Babalola, the Ondo state resident electoral commission , is an indigene of the state.
“This message is for INEC national chairman Yakubu Mahmood that you must redeploy the Ondo REC, Mrs. Oluwatoyin Babalola. She is from Ondo state,” he said.
