The Defence Forces has confirmed that injured Irish UN peacekeeper Shane Kearney has landed at Casement Aerodrome on a special medical aircraft

He is now being transferred by ambulance to Beaumont Hospital to continue receiving medical treatment.

Trooper Kearney was flown from Beirut Airport to Dublin on a"specially equipped, contracted medical aircraft", according to the Defence Forces.In a statement, the Defence Forces said that Trooper Kearney"is continuing to improve and he remains stable at present".Private Rooney, 24, was shot and killed in last week's attack in the coastal village in southern Lebanon.
