Go inside HM’s opening night celebrating the Cherish Waste Collection exhibition

On the heels of the end of Earth Month, H&M brought its upcoming Cherish Waste collection to life with an immersive exhibition. The museum-like presentation will be open to the public for the next three days at Studio 525 in NYC, but on Thursday evening, H&M hosted a private reception filled with fashion lovers like Winnie Harlow, Evan Mock, Barbie Ferreira, and Richie Shazam.

In the welcome hallway, attendees were greeted with a supersized illustration of Circular Systems’s Texloop, a recycling process that repurposes consumer waste into useful fibers, yarn, and fabrics. And in the main room, there was a fashion show-worthy display of clothes made using the revolutionary process plus several other innovative materials.

Every detail was well thought out, from the square-toed sandals on the mannequins, which were made of Mirum , to the environmentally friendly Freixenet Cava that was served to guests. The entire gathering served as a much-needed reminder that the fashion industry’s sustainability issues can be solved with a renewed way of thinking and implementing new practices.
