- ROME, AUG 21 - Sources at the Italian interior ministry on Sunday night described Italian mayors complaints that the country's migrant reception capacity was on the verge of collapse amid tripled arrival numbers as"surreal".
According to Viminale sources"the controversy raised by some mayors, on the subject of the reception of migrants is surreal. The numbers of migrant landings remain very high, almost 103,000 in the first 8 months of the year, 55 thousand between 1 June and 18 August, equal to an average of 700 per day.
