UPDATE: The PSNI are not treating the deaths as suspicious at this time
The Police Service of Northern Ireland has confirmed that today an investigation was launched following the 'sudden deaths' of two people in south Belfast on Saturday.
Belfast Live reports that a man was arrested in relation to the investigation but he has since been released on police bail. In a short statement issued on Sunday, a PSNI spokesperson said: "Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the sudden deaths of two people at a house in the Annadale Crescent area of Belfast on Saturday, 4th February."One man in his 40s has been arrested in relation to the investigation, and has since been released on police bail to allow for further police enquiries. There are no further details at this time.
According to local reports, the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service and NI Fire and Rescue Service also attended the scene. In a subsequent statement issued by police on Sunday afternoon, a spokesman said: "A post mortem has taken place and the deaths are not being treated as suspicious at this time.""I came to the front door to check up the street and the fire brigade stopped at the top of the street and went into the last house," he said."The police were keeping people away, nobody knew what was going on.
