An investigation is ongoing
Police have been informed and protective measures have been put in place at a care home where a resident was allegedly punched by a staff member.
A Lancashire County Council spokesman said: "We have been made aware of an incident at Abraham House care home, following concerns raised on May 14, which has been referred to police and the Care Quality Commission. Although this is a privately run facility, Lancashire County Council is the responsible authority for safeguarding and has instigated statutory safeguarding enquiries.
Abraham House, which provides accommodation for up to 30 people with dementia, was last inspected by the CQC in April of this year and was awarded an overall rating of 'good'. During the visit, which was unannounced, inspectors found that "people were protected from the risk of abuse because the provider had robust procedures and policies in place which mirrored the local authority safeguarding boards procedures".
