The investigator who is helping Julia Wendell - the Polish woman who says she might be Madeleine McCann - says she 'felt sorry' for the 21-year-old's mum after her daughter's claims left the family "devastated".

She says they both have the same rare eye condition – a coloboma in her right eye, which makes the pupil appear misshapen as part of the tissue is missing. The 21-year-old also claims to have very few memories of her childhood, and Dr Johansson says she found no hospital records in Wroclaw – the city she supposedly grew up in – from the first five years of her life.
