Met Eireann warns of a week of unsettled weather with frequent rain and breezy conditions, intensifying by the end of the week with the potential for heavier rainfall. Temperatures are expected to turn milder in the coming days.

Ireland is bracing for another spell of unsettled weather, with Met Eireann issuing an early weather warning ahead of what's expected to be a week of brutal conditions.

Ahead of the incoming gloomy weather, Met Eireann has issued a new Status Yellow rain warning for the following counties: Cork, Kerry and Waterford. The 21-hour alert, which is valid from 9am Monday to 6am Tuesday, warns of "spells of heavy rain, potentially causing spot flooding, poor visibility and difficult travelling conditions".

"Monday will be yet another cloudy or overcast day with scattered falls of rain and drizzle, heaviest across Atlantic counties. Much of the eastern half of the country will stay largely dry until later. Highest temperatures of 6C to 11C, coolest across Ulster and mildest across Munster. Staying breezy in a mostly fresh southeast wind.
