Winter's chill is set to continue in Ireland , with a "cold and breezy" week ahead and snow forecast for some areas. Met Eireann predicts overnight temperatures will be around freezing or close to freezing in the early part of the week, which, combined with rainfall, could lead to wintry falls, especially in the east.
A Met Eireann spokesperson said: "Today will be cold, dull and breezy. Patchy outbreaks of rain and drizzle will occur, especially across eastern counties, turning wintry over the Dublin and Wicklow Mountains later. Highest temperatures of 4 to 7 degrees with an added wind chill factor, owing to a rather brisk east to northeast wind."
"Cold tonight with frost and ice setting in where skies clear. Patchy outbreaks of rain and drizzle will persist, especially across eastern and southern areas with the chance of the odd hail or sleet shower too. Lowest temperatures of -1 to +3 degrees in a mostly light northeasterly breeze."
