Met Eireann issued a Status Orange alert for heavy rain, thunderstorms and flooding for Kilkenny, Wexford and Waterford for 24 hours
Ireland is bracing for another day of for extreme weather with Status Orange and Yellow warnings in place for 17 counties today.
Met Eireann issued the new severe weather warnings for heavy rain and thunder covering most of the country on Sunday and they will remain in place for 24 hours. A Status Orange alert for heavy rain, thunderstorms and flooding is currently in place for three counties; Kilkenny, Wexford and Waterford. The alert is valid from 4am Monday until 4am on Tuesday.Met Eireann warned that people in those counties should expect flooding, dangerous travel conditions and poor visibility for the duration of the alert.The impacts of the severe weather include flooding, dangerous travel conditions and poor visibility.
The first of two Status Yellow warnings is for heavy rain and affects six counties; Clare, Cork, Kerry, Limerick, Tipperary and Galway. The alert is valid from 6pm on Sunday through to 6pm on Monday. The second Status Yellow warning is also for heavy rain and is valid for eight counties; Carlow, Kildare, Laois, Longford, Offaly, Westmeath, Wicklow and Roscommon from 4am on Monday to 4am on Tuesday.The possible impacts include localised flooding and difficult travel conditions in the affected areas.
