Ireland is expected to see rising temperatures later this month, fuelling hopes of a potential 'Indian summer'. Met Eireann has given its verdict on exactly what weather is in store for us.
New weather maps show Ireland's temperatures are set to rise later this month, fuelling hopes of an 'Indian summer'. The models suggest a steady increase in temperatures over the coming weeks, with thermometers likely to approach the 20C mark as October progresses.
While the meteorological service anticipates above-average temperatures for the remainder of October, a major change from the recent cold weather, it has tempered expectations for a classic 'Indian summer'. In an update to its forecast, Met Eireann cautioned that, along with the warmth, unsettled conditions are anticipated, with indications of higher-than-average precipitation.
Looking ahead to next week it added: "This week shows a signal for high pressure over Europe to extend over Ireland bringing higher than average temperatures. There is also a weak signal for higher than average rainfall amounts over the western half of the country."
