The FAI say they will have a new permanent manager in place in time for the September Nations League clash with England.
Willy Sagnol has spoken about his hopes for Georgia at Euro 2024 and after their first ever appearance at a major tournament.
Sagnol, a former St St-Étienne, Monaco and Bayern Munich defender, began his coaching career with the France Under-21 side, before a spell at Bordeaux. “More importantly, we should take it as a reward for this federation. It's not the biggest European federation but they try to work hard and do things well; they try to develop younger generations.
When Sagnol took the Georgia job, they had just lost in the Euro 2020 play-offs to North Macedonia. Addressing the task he faced, he gave an insight into the attributes that caught the eye of the FAI’s managerial head-hunters.
