Eileen Gleeson was asked for her thoughts ahead of the game.
Eileen Gleeson says Ireland are aiming for a shock win against the third best team in the world on Friday night.
Their experience at last year’s World Cup - when they played co-hosts Australia in front of 75,000 fans - should stand to them against the French. Gleeson is without Liverpool captain Niamh Fahey for the France game, but could hand a debut to Aston Villa’s former England youth international defender Anna Patten.“Everyone’s good,” she said. “It’s the last training session today and hopefully we’ll monitor some players and then we’re good to go with a full selection for tomorrow.”
Denise O’Sullivan and Tyler Toland are back in the squad after missing the February friendlies against Italy and Wales. “We have to be totally realistic. We expect that they’ll have more of the ball than us, so what we have to do is be super prepared to be out of possession and to do that well, and it’s a real feature of being out of possession, we have to do that well.
