Ireland battled back from early adversity to win the inaugural WXV 3 title in Dubai courtesy of a 15-13 win over Spain.
From the get-go, Ireland were up against it after Edel McMahon was sent to the sin-bin inside a minute.Ireland threatened to wilt in the searing heat, and Spain made their player advantage pay in the 10th minute after a fine breakaway from outside centre Claudia Peña Hidalgo resulted in the opening try of the game.
Fly-half Dannah O'Brien finally got Ireland off the mark and even after Linda Djougang was shown a yellow card, Argudo clipped over another penalty to leave the score at 13-3 at the break.
