Ireland's national soccer team has experienced a surprising boost in FIFA rankings following a 1-0 victory over Finland, despite an earlier 5-0 loss to England. This move up three places brings them to their position from last year. Additionally, Bulgaria and Finland have seen changes in their rankings, with Bulgaria climbing and Finland dropping.

Ireland have been handed a shock FIFA rankings boost despite the 5-0 thumping at the hands of England at Wembley.

The 1-0 win at home to Finland four days earlier was enough to shoot Heimir Hallgrímsson’s men up three places in the latest table.
