The hit RTÉ reality TV was set to return to screens for its 12th season on Sunday evening with Laura Fox at the helm alongside coaches Davy Fitzgerald, Anna Geary, Donncha O’Callaghan and Sonia O’Sullivan

RTÉ released a statement to confirmed the postponement of the first episode. They said: “The broadcast of the new series of Ireland's Fittest Family originally scheduled to begin this Sunday night, has now been postponed following the death of one of this year's participants subsequent to the completion of the series.
They added: "RTÉ and Kite/Animo productions wish to extend our deepest sympathies to the bereaved family and friends at this time.Ireland's Fittest Family was recorded in Wicklow’s Kilruddery Estate during the summer.RTÉ yesterday confirmed the details of season 12. Davy Fitzgerald, Anna Geary, Donncha O’Callaghan and Sonia O’Sullivan all vying to bring home the title this year.
Camogie star and uber competitive Anna Geary is back on the show and will go head-to-head with fellow Cork sporting legends Sonia and rugby star Donncha, as well as Clare hurling legend Davy. Olympian Sonia will be sprinting back into action for her second season, bringing her world-class experience and determination.
Presented by Laura Fox, the upcoming series of Ireland’s Fittest Family features brand-new challenges including The Drop Zone, and Raft Rage: The Rivals. 16 families from all over Ireland will be put to the test with rugged courses, and high-intensity heart pounding obstacle races.
