Met Eireann, the national meteorological service, states: 'Week 1 is indicating a slight signal for low pressure to build in the Atlantic but indicates high pressure centred to the northeast, continuing to influence our weather. This will bring further settled weather with drier than average conditions signalled across most of the country apart from along the south coast where wetter conditions are indicated. 'Mean air temperatures look to be cool in week 1 with a signal for below normal temperatures for the time of year.' Most areas will remain dry and sunny, but the east and south will experience somewhat cloudier conditions in light to moderate easterly winds. Temperatures will reach 4 to 7 degrees Celsius. Friday night will be another dry one with clear spells and light winds. However, cloud cover will increase across the east and south, bringing isolated light showers. Frost and a few icy patches will develop, with lowest temperatures generally between -3 and +1 degrees Celsius, although it will be less cold in the east. Saturday 8th February: Expect a cloudier day overall, with the most sunshine in the west and northwest. Temperatures will be cool, ranging from 4 to 7 degrees Celsius in a light northeasterly breeze. Saturday night will be mostly dry with clear spells and isolated showers. Temperatures will drop to -3 to +2 degrees Celsius, but once again, it will be less cold across the east and southeast, in light to moderate east to northeast winds. Sunday 9th February: A dull and mostly dry day with just a few light showers is anticipated. Temperatures will reach 5 to 8 degrees Celsius in moderate easterly winds. Monday 10th February: Cloudy and dry conditions are expected for most areas with the occasional light shower. It will be rather breezy with moderate to fresh easterly winds.
