After a period of calm and dry weather, Ireland is set to experience a dramatic shift in weather patterns with heavy rain, thunderstorms, and gusty winds forecast.

Ireland is bracing for a dramatic shift in weather patterns, with unsettled conditions and heavy rain fall set to replace the recent mild spell. While temperatures are forecast to reach a pleasant 16C, the Irish Meteorological Service (Met Éireann) is warning of a significant change in weather, with torrential downpours and thunderstorms predicted to disrupt the settled conditions.

Despite a period of calm and dry weather, high pressure will only briefly influence Ireland's weather this week, bringing predominantly dry and settled conditions initially. However, this period of calm is short-lived, with a chaotic and wet pattern expected as the week progresses. Met Éireann's forecast indicates that while temperatures are expected to be above the March average by about 1C or 2C, the country will experience drier than normal conditions, with southern counties anticipated to be the driest. The mild temperatures, which may peak at 16C by Sunday, will be accompanied by increasingly unsettled weather. Rain and thunderstorms are expected to sweep in later in the week. Met Éireann's day-by-day breakdown reveals a shift from mostly dry conditions on Monday and Tuesday to a wetter pattern starting Wednesday, with rain and drizzle expected in Connacht and Ulster, gradually clearing throughout the day. Thursday will bring sunshine and scattered showers, but a persistent band of rain is predicted to move into western areas later in the day. This rain band will then stall over the country, affecting eastern Ulster, parts of Leinster, and east Munster on Friday morning. Despite the unsettled weather, temperatures are expected to remain mild, with highs reaching 10C to 13C throughout the week
