With Cian Healy now in international retirement, Jack Boyle could become an important player for Ireland in the coming months and years after impressing management and making an impact in his first two caps during the Six Nations

Jack Boyle is thrilled to be part of Ireland's new wave - and says he's ready to kick on at Test level after his first Six Nations . The 23-year-old prop was the only uncapped player used by Simon Easterby in this year's championship but one of five to make their championship debuts.

"Look, if that went another way I wouldn’t have been playing on Saturday. You've got to take your opportunities when they come. Whatever your role, close out a game, come on and add a bit of impact. That’s what you have to do. Out there against Italy, I felt a lot more comfortable and I feel I'm ready. It’s up to me to show the coach that I'm right at the level. I grew into it a bit but ultimately I feel I am there now.

"With Ports and Church two world class operators, it is trying to put my own spin on it. It’s not a point of difference. What I can add, whatever role that is, finishing out a game for 20-minutes, bringing a bit of energy, bringing the lads round the corner, whatever it’s meant to be. Ultimately it is just trying to learn off these lads as much as possible and put your own spin on things. Nothing drastic.

"As a person, as a leader, he is someone that I have always looked up to, the way he goes about his business. He’s unbelievably professional but also gas, he has the craic as well. I owe him so much. Hopefully I can stay friends with him for a good few years to come.
