March weather in Ireland is bringing a surprise warm spell followed by unsettled conditions with rain, wind and possible thunderstorms.

March is in full swing, and as expected, the month is showcasing its characteristic ' March of Many Weathers'. While typically a blend of lingering winter chills and the first whispers of spring, this year brings an unexpected warm spell . Temperatures are poised to climb as high as 15C in certain areas later this week, offering a welcome reprieve from the cold. However, the weather's fickleness is evident, as the warm spell is predicted to be short-lived.

Unsettled conditions are set to return, bringing with them heavy downpours, gusty winds, and the possibility of thunderstorms. Met Éireann, Ireland's national meteorological service, forecasts an unusual period of mild weather, but emphasizes that unsettled conditions will dominate as the week progresses. They state: 'Mean air temperatures are forecast to be above the March average by around 1C or 2C, however, there will be occasional rain or showers, especially towards the end of the week.'Delving into a day-by-day breakdown, Met Éireann predicts a generally dry Tuesday with a mix of sunshine and scattered clouds. However, the northern half of the country will experience cloudier conditions, with some rain or drizzle developing across Connacht and Ulster. Temperatures will be mild, reaching highs of 9C to 12C with southwesterly breezes. Tuesday night will see becoming rather cloudy overall, with rain and drizzle in the west and north. The south will remain dry with some clear breaks in the cloud. Lowest temperatures will range from 1C to 4C in southwesterly breezes. Wednesday will be cloudy with outbreaks of rain and drizzle in the west and north. The rain is expected to clear by the afternoon, but cloud cover will persist along with southwesterly breezes. Temperatures will reach 9C to 12C. Wednesday evening will see increasing breezes, with freshening southwest winds. Cloudy conditions will continue with outbreaks of rain and drizzle along western and northern counties. Drier conditions are anticipated elsewhere, with some clear breaks developing in the south and east. Lowest temperatures will be between 3C and 6C
