Met Eireann forecasts a mixed weekend with rain and drizzle on Saturday, followed by brighter and sunnier conditions on Sunday. Temperatures will stay relatively mild.
Forecasters have become increasingly confident about the weather outlook for the coming days, easing fears of a repeat of the Beast from the East freeze that caused major disruption in Ireland in 2018. While uncertainty remains in the forecast, Met Eireann warns that conditions could shift before the weekend. Initial predictions indicate that Saturday will experience scattered rain and drizzle, primarily in the west, with temperatures reaching 9 degrees Celsius.
Sunday is expected to be brighter and sunnier, particularly along the east coast, with temperatures fluctuating between 4 and 9 degrees Celsius. \ A spokesperson for Met Eireann explained: 'There's uncertainty in the forecast and temperature profile for next weekend and details may change closer to the time. High pressure to our east is attempting to keep the Atlantic weather fronts at bay to the west, but rain is pushing further eastward intermittently.' They added: 'At present, it appears Saturday will be cloudy and breezy with occasional rain and drizzle, mainly concentrated in the southwest and west, while it is likely to remain drier further east. Highest temperatures will range from 5 to 9 degrees in moderate to fresh southeast winds. Saturday night is expected to be dry in many areas, but there's a possibility of some rain, especially in the west and south. Some clear spells are probable, particularly in the east and north. Lowest temperatures will generally be between 1 and 5 degrees, but milder in the south and southwest, with moderate to fresh southeast winds. Sunday promises some bright or sunny periods, particularly in the east. Overall, a significant amount of dry weather is anticipated, but rain and drizzle are likely to move into the south and west, potentially spreading further eastwards later. Temperatures will peak between 4 and 9 degrees, with the highest readings in the southwest, accompanied by moderate, occasionally fresh southeast winds.
