The country looks set to remain in the deep freeze with subzero temperatures, frost and fog persisting over the coming days, according to Met Éireann
The Road Safety Authority has issued advice to motorists as much of the country remains in the deep freeze this morning, with temperatures staying as low as -6C in parts of the west.

It advises motorists to check their tyre tread, maintain proper air pressure, inspect tyres for tears or bulges, and change tyres when needed.
Friday looks like being milder, with light westerly breezes and scattered showers. The mercury could drop below zero again that night, but slightly warmer temperatures can be expected at the weekend.Frost will gradually clear this morning but fog may linger in some areas. Dry with sunny spells where the fog clears. Cold with highest temperatures of 2 to 7 degrees, in light to moderate north to northeast or variable winds.
