Met Éireann has issued a weather advisory for Sunday, January 5th and much of next week warning of very low temperatures, severe frost, and icy patches. The advisory is in place from Sunday January 5th to Thursday January 9th 2025. There are also a number of other weather warnings in place for various parts of Ireland.
Met Éireann has issued an updated weather advisory for Sunday, January 5th and much of next week as temperatures are due to be very low and ' severe frost ' expected. They warn that there may be travel and service disruption due to the cold weather. The advisory is in place from Sunday January 5th to Thursday January 9th 2025. It reads: 'Sunday night and much of the coming week will be very cold. Severe frost and icy patches in many areas. Lying snow in some areas will be slow to clear.
Wintry showers at times.' Potential Impacts include hazardous travelling conditions and travel and service disruption. There are a number of weather warnings currently in place. On Friday, January 3rd there is a Yellow Ice Warning for Antrim, Down, Tyrone, and Derry from the Met Office. On Saturday, January 4th, there is a Status Orange Rain and Snow warning for Cork and Kerry. Heavy rain transitioning to sleet and snow with significant accumulations expected. Potential impacts include: • Very difficult travelling conditions • Poor visibility • Travel disruption delays to public transport likely (air, rail, bus) • Difficult conditions underfoot • Animal welfare issues Also on Saturday, there is a Status Orange Snow-Ice warning for Carlow, Kilkenny, Laois, Offaly, Wicklow, Clare, Limerick, and Tipperary with significant snow accumulations expected
