Met Éireann and the UK Met Office have issued weather warnings for several Irish counties, with a yellow wind warning set from Thursday afternoon, accompanied by the potential for heavy rain and localised flooding on Friday in the southern half.
Weather warnings have been issued for several counties on the island of Ireland over the coming days by both Met Éireann and the UK Met Office. A status yellow wind warning has been issued for Clare, Donegal, Galway, Leitrim, Mayo and Sligo. The warning comes into effect at 1pm until 4pm on Thursday.
The national forecaster warns of rain spreading eastwards across the country, moderate southerly winds turning northwesterly and increasing to fresh, strong and very gusty, reaching gale force near west and north coasts in the late afternoon and evening. On Thursday night, it will remain windy with scattered showers, easing and becoming isolated mainly coastal north and west. Friday may see heavy rain and localised flooding in the southern half, with temperatures ranging from 5-9 degrees and fresh to strong, gusty winds in the south, lighter further north
