An Irish couple who got caught up in the torrential floods in Dubai during the week have described in detail the "madness" that ensued during the layover from hell.

"Eventually a staff member came to the desk, they explained that our flight had been cancelled and we were getting a hotel voucher that we can use for the night. They told us staff will be at the hotel and they would be able to help schedule everyone onto another flight."
To their dismay, the "five-minute" ride to their hotel took two-and-a-half hours to complete. However, this was not the end of it.
